CERM – Test Center for future Road Traffic

  Logo CERM

The Chair for Integrated Signal Processing Systems (ISS) of the RWTH Aachen University participates in establishing the “Center of European Research on Mobility” (CERM) in Aldenhoven. This test center for validation and quality assurance of application for mobile and embedded devices in road traffic will promote development of innovative technologies, systems and measures concerning safety, traffic flow, efficiency and acceptability under special consideration of interconnection and communication. It links structured gathering, analysis and abstraction of mobility and transport in Europe with controlled depiction and assessment of isolated traffic situations.
The ISS team has long-standing experiences with wireless communication systems and currently works on its own M2M platform. Latter is a modular system which connects different communication technologies with a variety of sensors. It’s currently under test in street lamps in Potsdam and Berlin. As part of CERM sensors connected through this platform will deliver data to advanced driver assistance systems in vehicles to early predict collisions.
